One of the major concerns in this age of accountability and responsibility in all areas of safety and wellbeing. With the cost of accident and liabilities insurances and levies increasing for those of us working with horses, something has to change.
Present safety considerations are made from a fear stand point
By a fear stand point I mean we are taught to do various things just in case our horse does this, this or that and we do various other things after our horse has done this, this or that. These actions come from either a place of anticipation or expectation (future) or reaction (past). Both actions are not coming from the moment, which is the only time we can act. Perhaps a better place to work from is one of mutual trust and respect between the horse and the handler/rider. As they say "nothing changes if nothing changes". Or more fitting, "the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and expecting a different result."
The focus of current safety thinking and application is more about what you put on your head rather than what you put in your head.
The Equine Safety program has been designed as a break away from the traditional absolute values and views of safety and control around horses. Some of the techniques taught have been modified from the traditional theories, some have been taken back to their original theory and practice roots and some are from a totally different view point altogether. The common standpoint is; what is good for the safety and wellbeing of both the human and the horse in the horse/human relationship equation.
The basic process
A safety manual/workbook is included to take away for future reference.
This program is for everyone that is around horses, you are never to young to learn these valuable potentially life saving lessons and you are never to old to integrate a greater understanding into your existing knowledge and skills.
